Tonight In Athens

Wow, you could conceivably do nothing but listen to music tonight...

At 6PM, if you wander over to School Kids Records (on Clayton Street, downtown), you can see the Japancakes play a very rare in-store performance.

Then, at 8PM The Fairburn Royals play WUOG's Live In The Lobby (90.5 FM).

Finally, there are two great nighttime shows. We probably don't even have to mention that Patterson Hood, currently in the midst of the Truckers' Dirty South Tour, will be playing an acoustic benefit show tonight at/for Nuci's Space. Don Chambers, one of our favorites, will be playing as well (which means the two will likely perform several, if not all, of their songs together). The cost is $10, and obviously it goes to the Space. This show will sell out.

May I also suggest seeing Rob Veal play at Lunch Paper tonight. A former Dashboard Savior, he plays "simply, honest" rock music that's an incredible joy to see/hear. His live performances are increasingly rare, so it's a good chance to see something that doesn't happen often (twice in one day if you see the 'cakes). Also, it's Twain's last night in their current lineup.
