Ok, so this has already been mentioned in today's comments... but it needs to be a thread of its own. Popmatters.com has a front page article about the supposed saviors of Athens music, the Whigs.

This article is wrong on so many levels... many of which have already been mentioned by Mail Clerk, Rock Journalist, Jayne, Robo Dave, and DVDGuy.

First, I'd like to say that lets not blame the Whigs for this article... blame the author, Jon Garrett.

Second, I'd like to say... no Athens band is a real band until they've done two things:

1) Release a recording. Until then, you're just a party band.
2) Survive a generation of UGA students. Until then, you've just got alot of friends.

So if you wanna save Athens music, get to work Whigwams!
