This Weekend In Athens

A weekend of disappearing acts...

FRI: In a sort of goodbye to their drummer (Joe - a helluva cool guy), the newly re-christened "Todd McBride & The Cooler Heads" (aka "Todd McBride & The Monday Nite Nobodies") play the Caledonia. They're a really amazing band, Joe's a great drummer (and great cook, I might add), and I highly recommend getting out to see this show if you like rock (just plain rock - done well). Obviously, it'll be a while before they play out again as training drummers is a daunting task. As an added incentive, they'll be playing several Saviors classics in the set. Afterwards I believe there's a goodbye party, so ask around.

Why not plug the Now It's Overhead show tonight at the 40 Watt? Cause it's sold out, that's why. So if you're going, you already know about it. And in actually talking to Andy instead of speculating (for once), I am assured this will be the last NIO show for quite some time. Enjoy it, ticket holders.

SAT: Just before heading out to tour for the rest of the year, We Versus The Shark plays at the 40 Watt. They're best heard through either a great sound system (like at the Watt) or barely any system at all (like at a house party). In between isn't their prime. So, this is the night to try 'em out. Just don't be frightened away by being one of the oldest folks in the crowd - cause if you're an 8-5'er, you likely will be. But they rock, so it's worth it. (Note: The suits were for a special wedding performance; they might be math-rocky-y, but they're not that math-rock-y.)
