Most Important World Events of 2004

2004 was a huge year. Events happened the repercussions of which were felt worldwide. Some changed how we will view the future, some the present, and still others left us to look back on the past, sometimes sadly, sometimes fondly. And while such events can't be quantified, they can be listed. Here they are:

5. ODB + Drugs / Athletes + Steroids
Whether on the music scene or the sports scene, people were shocked to find out their idols aren't quite the upstanding citizens they had previously believed them to be. To say that the world populace was "rattled" would be an understatement.

4. The NBA Fight / Concert Shooting
Within a few weeks of each other, all rules about safety and the line between fans and entertainers were broken. There are no more lines. There is no fourth wall - or not one that can't be scaled anyway (or, in basketball, there is no "section"). Who knows what impact this'll have on the future of sports or music? R.I.P. "Dimebag" Darrell and that little Hispanic-looking dude who walked out onto the court.

3. Rick James Calls It Quits
"Superfreak" will never be heard the same again. There will always be a tinge of sadness, bitch.

2. Free Coffee Day At Blue Sky
You just walked in, picked up a cup, and poured your coffee. That was it. No paying, no dealing with behind-the-counter types, nothing. Best thing since "free scoop day" at new ice cream places. Revolutionary at the very least.

1. Creed Calls It Quits
Have you ever been happier? Seriously. I don't know what I can say about this except THANK GOD IT'S OVER.
