Warm Records releases
Liz Durrett's debut album
Husk today. There's a pretty good description of it with sound samples
here. I won't waste time repeating it except to say it's soft, it's great, and you should buy it.
In case you missed it, here was
our interview with her way back when about this release.
Julie Powell And The Holy Rollin' Empire also make their debut today with
Hymns and Spirituals (on
Solponticello), which is pretty much self explanatory. They've done a great job updating what could be updated and leaving alone what should be left alone to make old hymns quite listenable in non-church settings (I know some of the musicians involved - trust me, they're quite "secular").

Finally, it's been out for a coupla' weeks now, but
Orange Twin released
Jack Logan and the Monday Night Recorders' debut
Nature's Assembly Line. You've probably read all about it by now, but if not, then check out
this Banner article and
this Flagpole article. Basically, a buncha good musicians met once a week or so, committed to writing and recording three songs each time, and did so. Wound up with about 100 songs and whittled them down to fifteen for this collection. More forthcoming, supposedly.

Also, here's
what Kevin Lane told us about it a while back (you can check to see if he lied about anything).
