This Weekend In Athens
Happy Good Friday, here's some rock n' roll...
Mikey Dwyer and disco ball not included.FRI: One of the best bands in Athens for years running,
Lona takes the stage at the
Caledonia. Really if you've seen 'em, you know they're great. And if you haven't ... seriously, go. They're awesome.
Another interesting act in town is My Siamese Self. They're playing
Nuci's Space. I've never heard 'em, but they're fronted by
Hope For Agoldensummer's Deb Davis (who also does a lot of writing now for HFAGS). Deb's real cool, so I hope their music will be too.
More info here.
Banjo and grimace included.SAT: Speaking of
Hope For Agoldensummer, they'll be performing at
Tasty World tonight as part of the Amps For Stamps benefit (something about Amnesty International and writing letters to get folks outta foreign jails or something like that). Joining them will be
Astra (who are good) and
Ginger Envelope (who I've never heard but have heard good things about). Should make for a charming, relaxing evening.
But if you want another maximum rock n' roll kinda evening, then there's
Don Chambers + GOAT's CD release party over at the
Caledonia. Technically, the CD's been out for a while, but now it's official, I guess. Anyway, they rock - but you already know that. They've played out a lot lately, but apparently they're going on tour soon, so this might be one of the last shows for a while.

SUN: Happy Easter!
