A Note On Facial Hair

For some reason, I've seen a lot of these dudes around lately (please ignore the unibrow):

Can anyone explain this? I mean, I thought that form of goatee was extinct (or nearly so)? How did it travel into the 21st century and why am I seeing these dudes around so much? I mean, I'm totally against telling someone to alter their personal style (it's the biggest calling card you have - and nothing says "tool" from afar like one of those things), but seriously if you're reading this and you have that, do yourself a favor and please shave it or alter it somehow.
