This Weekend In Athens

Better late than never...

FRI: Jucifer bring their loud and scary act to the Georgia Theatre just in time for Halloween. There's a wall of amps, y'all. It's something to see. More here.

Of course, there's also Murder Beach and Shiitake Knights at the Caledonia. That's a little less loud and a little more catchy. Either way, you're guaranteed a good show.

SAT: During the afternoon (starting at about 3), Jot 'Em Down BBQ is hosting its "Fest-O-Fall of Cholesterol" - and outdoor concert extravaganza featuring the likes of The Chasers, Redneck Greece Deluxe, and a whole buncha others.

That evening, let the covers begin at the Caledonia with the somewhat off-beat cover project Throwing Stars, which is Kevin Lane's Zumpano cover band. Afterwards, The Shut-Ups will be taking you through all the hits. More here.

There's also the Halloween drunken debauchery tradition of the Krush Girls at the 40 Watt, if you wanna get your groove on (and you're under 24).

SUN: The UltraOdd hosts its annual Halloween party. Garbage Island, Brown Frown, and a host of usual suspects will play. I have no idea the time, but you know, "rock time". Take College Ave away from downtown, left at MLK, 2nd house on the right (behind the big fence).
