Athens Audio and Such

For folks who are into downloading bittorrents, here is the Drive-By Truckers set from Saturday night at the Tabernacle in Atlanta. This show was the 20th anniversary of Patterson Hood and Mikey Cooley playing together, originally in Adam's House Cat, so the mood was festive. Athens' guest musicians Fran Capitanelli (The Tom Collins) and John Neff (everything) joined in on the fun. Thanks to Sloan Simpson for recording the entire night.

Pictures from the show that someone on the fan listserv took are here. It also includes pictures from the Alabama Theatre gig from the night before.

In other Athens music news, Widespread Panic, who tends to keep their charity contributions subtle and out of the public eye, has announced that they will be doing a charity show at the Roxy Theatre in Atlanta on 12/28, the night before their annual two-night run at Philips Arena. Tickets are expensive, but I guess that's the point. Lots of money will hopefully be raised to promote music education in schools.
