This Weekend In Athens
Wow... quiet.
FRI: The Chasers bring some great country music to the
Caledonia tonight. I'd almost forgotten how good they were till I saw them over Christmas again. Truly talented and "country to the bone" as they'll tell ya. Well worth an evening out. You can even dance to it.
But before that, you should once again tune your work radios to
91.7 (WUGA) to hear "It's Friday" on which
Bob Hay & The Jolly Beggars will once again be performing... this time winding down Robert Burns' birthday week (no doubt their busiest week of the year). If you've missed all the shows you should at least tune into this (
listen online here). It's at 4PM and though I can't find it listed anywhere other than Flagpole, I'm assuming it is correct that they're playing the show two weeks in a row now.
SAT: Although I've never heard them, the experimental sounds of
Babies Who Hurt People have bent a few trustworthy ears lately, so in light of their new CD release, it's probably worth checking out. More
here.
SUN: The big band
Dark Meat (not to be confused with Big Meat) perform at Transmetropolitan. Honestly, it's Sunday night - what else is going on? Anyway I hear they're great too. More
here.
