Happy Mardi Gras!

It's the time of year where hedonism is at its peak in many parts of the world, so of course we're celebrating. "Eat Drink & Be Merry For Tomorrow, We May Suffer", right? Anyway, you can rest assured that for however long you've been up today, someone's been up longer drinking in New Orleans and plans to keep at it till Midnight, so there's your downward social comparison.

As I've mentioned several times since Carnival began, Home of the Groove is the source for free, great New Orleans music. It's loaded with good Mardi Gras songs right now, too. In addition, there's a whole set from piano-genius James Booker (possibly the best pianist I've ever heard) up here and another from funk legends The Meters here - both from the Aquarium Drunkard mp3 blog (a few great Athens-related posts there as well).

If you come across more good free NOLA-related songs, please post links in the comments. If I find 'em, I'll do the same. And if anyone's giving up stuff for Lent, comment away! (I gave up Coke last year - wouldn't recommend doing that.)

Until then, Laissez Les Bons Temps Roulez, y'all.
