This Weekend In Athens

Rock, Charity, & Comedy...

FRI: Starting at about 8PM, ATHICA hosts an Athens Area Homeless Shelter benefit show featuring Hope For Agoldensummer, Thimble Circus, and some new group called Diet Rock Star, which features Eric Harris. More here and also make sure you check the ATHICA page for info on their corresponding exhibit - looks great.

Speaking of Eric, he'll be pulling double-duty tonight as Ham 1 performs later on at Little Kings after comedian Pete McBrayer. More on the latter here.

Also, there are two chances to hear Sleepy Horses tonight. First, you can all turn on your radios (or the Internets) to hear them perform on WUGA's (91.7's) "It's Friday" show at 4 PM. Then later on you can see them around 8:30-ish at Flicker.

(And if anyone complains about me leaving out Fripp, you will be branded a guitar nerd.)

SAT: If you like it loud and slightly experimental, then check out Ceramic Duck down at Caledonia. They're good, but that's really all I have to say about that.

And if you just wanna "dance, dance, dance", then there's I Am The World Trade Center and the Krush Girls at the 40 Watt. I'm sure someone else'll have something to say about that.

Yes, this is the best version of this graphic I could find.
SUN: A Taste Of Athens makes its annual appearance at the Classic Center from 6-9 PM. As usual, over 50 local food & beverage vendors'll be there and there's a whole buncha games and whatnot too. But mostly you can get drunk and fed like a mofo.

Tickets are $40 ($35 for groups of 6) advance and are available from at Jittery Joe's, Rolling Pin, Aurum Studios, Homeplace Gifts & Toys, Marti's At Midday, Border's, and at Community Connection (as well as the aforementioned website). They will be available also at the event itself.
