This Weekend In Athens
Change dem clocks...
FRI: Kinda quiet night around town, but there is the
40 Watt show featuring
I Am The World Trade Center and band-to-watch
The Whigs.
SAT: Finally back from months of recording,
Nutria plays
Flicker as a show billed as "Nutria & Friends". So many friends you wonder if there's gonna be tickets for sale. There won't be after everyone finds out about possible special guest
Michael McDonald. Show's at 8:30-ish.
The big show of the night is
Elf Power &
The Minus 5 at the
Georgia Theatre. Elf Power's playing new tunes, undoubtedly. And the Minus 5's in support of their new album. Peter Buck'll be there. Who knows what'll happen. More
here.
Of course there's also the math-ish, rock-ish sounds of
Heros Severum at
Tasty World, the long-absent rap of former (and sometimes present?) Athenian
Ishues at the
40 Watt, and the louder than hell sounds of frequent players
Music Hates You at the
Caledonia, going for most number of gigs in a semester.
If anyone's bored that afternoon, there's gonna be a big carnival type thing out on Legion Field. Games and prizes and cotton candy and whatnot. All to benefit the Athens deaf community.
SUN: Barbara Cue, who have long been absent to due Widespread Panic tours and whatever else is happening with them returns to the stage at the
Melting Point. More
here.
