This Weekend In Athens
Go see some music, buy some albums, spring music season is finally happening...
FRI: Clay Leverett plays a solo show up at
Nuci's with a few other folks. No doubt you'll hear Chasers songs, Lona songs, cover songs, and plenty of Clay-isms. Have a drink. That show starts at 9:30-ish. More
here.
Before that though, the new 3-piece version of
Summer Hymns plays at
Flicker around 8:30. I was skeptical when I'd heard they'd downsized so much, but last time I heard them play they were great. And unexpected pleasant surprise. Who knew? More
here.
Later in the night,
Music Hates You will be rocking the walls of the
Caledonia. Their new CD,
Send More Paramedics is supposedly on its way to (or currently sitting in) my mailbox. I'll try and get a listen in before next time they play (in a day or two?). Anyway, they're loud and awesome.
Finally, two local DJ superpowers meet at one party as
Dan Gellar and
Chris Bilheimer are spinning at the
Go Bar as well.
SAT: Phosphorescent plays in town for the first time this year, I think, at the
Caledonia. It's definitely been a while and honestly, I couldn't tell you what Matthew's been doing in that time - probably touring. Hopefully, working up something great. Anyway should be a good comeback show and
Dark Meat opens so that's another reason to go.
Also,
Pushbutton performs at
Tasty World in support of their new album,
Close To Final. It's chock full of poppy goodness. The kinda stuff that gets stuck in your head.
