This Weekend In Athens
Student populace gone, rock populace still here...
FRI: Fabulous Bird and
Murder Beach (who are apparently hiding their album from the public) play a great pop double-bill at the
Caledonia. Hey does anyone know if that
"Pincher" comp ever got released (the one where each contributing band wrote a song called "The Pincher" that had to be under a minute in length)? I've heard a Fairburn Royals version of it and a Murder Beach version of it and both were great. Anyway, should be a fun show.
SAT: Annie & Her Guns play their farewell show at the
Go Bar tonight. Annie is packing it up and heading overseas apparently. No word on what her guns are doing.
There's also a fantastic triple bill featuring
Producto,
Still Small Voice & The Joyful Noise, and
Babies Who Hurt People at the
40 Watt. Seems like Producto's really come up lately. They're making a bassist switch soon as well... so bass fans will wanna catch this show and then another afterwards to judge the quality. More
here.
The combo of
Col. Knowledge & The Lickity Splits and
Telenovela at the
Caledonia would be great to catch as well. Or for the alt-country types,
Lake City's over at
Tasty World.
