Tonight In Athens
The musical part of AthFest begins...
The traditional beginning of the music part of
AthFest is of course the
Flagpole music awards. They say:
The best single night of entertainment available! It's Flagpole's annual salute to the best in local music, with awards voted on by all you tremendously attractive Flagpole readers. This year's shindig includes performances by Producto, Mandy Jane & the Jaws of Life, Dark Meat, Phosphorescent, Modern Skirts and the ever-rocking house group The Magictones. 8 p.m. See p. 17 for the full deal.
All this starts around 8PM (don't believe that "Sharp!" crap they're throwing). After party at the
Watt. Pre-party there too - if you want the scoop on that
e-mail us then also drop us a line in the comments cause we'll never remember check that account otherwise.
As mentioned before, the acoustic version of
Mother Jackson will be performing with comedian
Pete McBrayer at
Flicker. The flyer is in yesterday's post. It's sorta an after-party too for the awards show. More
here.
Other acoustic shows feature the
Dromedary Quartet at
Farm 255 around 9PM and
Meghann Jordan & Mark Brut at
283 around 7PM.
Finally, for the folks who like it loud (and rock-a-billy-ish),
Dexter Romweber takes the non-stage at the
Lunch Paper to tear it up. More
here.
