I'm officially requesting that the Braves trade Smoltz. For one thing, he's old. For another, we can free up his contract money and get a couple of young bullpen pitchers (or a leadoff man).
Most importantly, he's started actively campaigning for Ralph Reed. My aunt got a pre-recorded phone call saying something to the effect of "Hi, this is John Smoltz calling on behalf of Ralph Reed... blah blah blah... Jesus... blah blah blah... good Christian.... blah blah blah... uses Indians and old black people... blah blah blah."
Now, I don't mind when my favorite athletes disagree with my politics. But to actively campaign for Ralph Reed... yikes. That's going too far.
Trade his ass.
