This Weekend In Athens

Going to the chapel...

Remember these kids?
FRI: I Am The World Trade Center plays what maybe their final show at the 40 Watt tonight. Amy's moving to Oregon, it would appear. It's weird cause I was just wondering if they were broken up cause I hadn't seen 'em playing in a while. Anyway, they're gonna. Maserati opens, which also makes me wonder what's gonna happen to them cause last I heard, Steve and Amy were engaged. Anyone got the gossip (cause I'm always outta the loop)? More here.

Also of interested, the Caledonia's going hip-hop all weekend. Tonight's show features Ishues and a few others and is billed as the "Back To School Hip-Hop Bash" or something like that. I just think it's a good thing that local hip-hop's making it's way down to that area of town.

SAT: Congratulations CS & SARAH!!! The man who founded this site the love of his life do that whole holy matrimony thing. Senoia's gonna be bouncin'! Balee dat.

In Athens, there's the "Aux Collaborative Arts Event". I don't know much about it, except that it's a buncha experimental bands with many E6 affiliations. But if you go to their website, I"m sure you'll learn a lot if that's your thing.

Also, local hip-hop act The Renegadez perform at the Caledonia.

Oh, and a little band called Whild Peach will be playing with the Dictatortots at Tasty World. Anyone who has ever liked Southern hip-hop needs to check them out. Trust me on this. We've given good strong suggestions in the past; don't ask questions. Oh, and bring us back pics, damnit.

SUN: The nationally-syndicated "Mountain Stage" show tapes at UGA's Hodgson Hall tonight featuring Vic Chesnutt, Tin Cup Prophette, and more. More here.

Before that, of course, Elf Power is playing out at Orange Twin in a special taping of the kids' show "Pancake Mountain". I think you have to contact them for info and you prolly shouldn't go if you don't have kids with you (don't wanna look creepy). Still, should be a fun show. More here.
