Athens Music News
In local music news, the long out-of-print Bloodkin album,
Creeperweed, is now available for purchase and digital download via their
website. This album came out 10 years ago and is completely acoustic, and includes tons of songs that the band still plays today. Grab your copy before they aren't available for another 10 years. Bloodkin will also be playing the Georgia Bar on Halloween and only 100 tickets will be sold.
In addition, lead singer/songwriter Daniel Hutchens will be releasing his 2nd solo album,
Lovesongs for Losers, in early October. Produced yet again by David Barbe, if it's anything like the first solo record, it should be great.
Here's a brief review.
The album will be the 2nd disc for the new
Autumn Tone Records, which, by the way, is related to the fantastic
Aquarium Drunkard blog. (The first disc on their label was a re-issue of Hutchens' first record
Lesser). You can find more information at Hutchens'
website or listen to a few samples at his
myspace site. You can also stream the first solo album on the Autumn Tone site. Any aspring songwriter could learn a few lessons from Daniel Hutchens' songbook, that's for sure.
