This Weekend In Athens

FRI: A great line-up at the 40 Watt featuring Venice Is Sinking, Summer Hymns, and Goat. One put a great album out recently, one's about to, and the other should be at home recording, damnit (in that order). Anyway, it's the kind of triple bill that doesn't happen often - and it's plenty diverse at that - so worth a trip out.

Of course, if it's not your cup of tea, there's something louder and more experimental right around the corner at the Caledonia with Garbage Island. Or you can check out Trunkfire out at Foxz for an alt-country kinda thing (they're really good, btw). And before all that, our friends in Bob Hay & The Jolly Beggars will be performing a set at the Go Bar around 9 PM.

Also, The Dumps and many other are at the Secret Squirrel.

SAT: Time Toy finally throws a release show for their first and only CD Fly Swatter / Ice Water at the 40 Watt . It's quirky, it's dancy, it's fun. It's a taste of Athens in the mid-80's. Plus, another band who doesn't play much these days, Jackpot City, is on the bill as well. More here.

Also, Happy 6th Anniversary to Nuci's Space!!! Going the night will be Nuci's Space's 6th Anniversary Celebration. We don't have to tell you that Nuci's Space is awesome. Here's what they say:
