How to Entertain a UGA Football Recruit

I get weekly e-mails with UGA Football updates. These updates compile recent news clips, reader submissions, and gossip about the Dawgs. During this time of year, the normal topic of conversation is recruiting.

Yesterday, I received an update in which a recent recruit's visit to UGA was described by a UGA student, Bo Gibson:

...I thought I'd let you know about Orlando Franklin.. He came and hung out with us at General Beauregard's last night and was being shown around by Jeff Owens. (By the way Jeff is not only a friend of mine but by far our best recruiter on the team.) I think a lot of recruiting is based on how comfortable the recruits are with the players already on the team and how much they like the city. Athens, as anybody who has gone here knows, is always fun. But last night was different than usual because there have been a ton of people from out of town in Athens recently. Orlando was really quiet and didn't seem to be enjoying himself that much and if I had to guess I really doubt that we'll get him, but if anyone can land him it will be Jeff...

So... they took this guy to General Beauregard's? ...and he chose not to attend UGA? What a surprise.

You mean to say that young, black football players don't like hanging out in bars w/ confederate memorabilia all over the walls?

But wait... It turns out that the UGA player who took the recruit to Beauregard's, Jeff Owens, is a black dude! He hangs out at General Beauregard's? Is that the same bar that I remember? The one with the rebel flag in the window?

I'm so confused...
