Shoorah!

After I begged him to do a post about it, Dan over at
Home Of The Groove wrote a bit about the
history of the word "Shoorah" (or "Shoo-Ra") in New Orleans music. Bottom line, nobody really knows what it means, but it's been the inspiration for several great songs. My favorite is by Allen Toussaint.
His version, as well as
the cover by Betty Wright (scroll), are well worth your download time. Available, of course, for a very limited time.
