This Weekend In Athens
Livin' after midnight...
FRI: The loud n' awesome sounds of
Southern Bitch will rock through
Tasty World tonight with Texan friends The Drams performing as well.
The Drams, of course, are a new-ish band comprised of some members of Slobberbone, for those who remember them. More
here.
Also of interest that night are
Bloodkin at
Nuci's Space (more
here),
Garbage Island at the
Caledonia,
Joseph Arthur and The Lonely Astronauts at the
40 Watt (more
here), and if you just wanna dance your butt off, the
Krush Girls at
Detour.
SAT: Local songwriters
Bo Bedingfield,
Nic Goodson and
Betsy Franck all perform at
Tasty World. That's a pretty great lineup of singer-songwriters who'll probably keep the singer-songwriter thing from getting boring. One can only hope.
And out of the woodwork appears
Jackpot City to play at
Little Kings. They don't play out too much anymore... so maybe this show is like a warm-up for AthFest? I don't know, but they usually rock pretty hard.
Mandy Jane & The Jaws Of Life,
Don Chambers, the
8-Track Gorilla, and
Bitch Switch are also playing that show.
E6ers of course will wanna catch the
New Sound Of Numbers and the
63 Crayons at the
Go Bar. You can also catch
Mother Jackson at the
40 Watt,
Mouser and
Producto at the
Caledonia, and
Tin Cup Prophette at
Canopy Studios.
