This Weekend In Athens
And the pre-AthFest summer quiet officially begins...
FRI: A few notable acts still playing around town while everyone preps for
AthFest... For instance, the trio of
William Tonks, John Neff, and Jack Logan perform at the
Morton as part of Athens 441.
Meanwhile, just down the road, former Athenian
Kevn Kinney returns to down with his band the Sun-Tangled Angel Revival to perform at the
Melting Point. The show will also feature the debut of
the HEAP Project - the new band featuring Bryan Howard of the Sun-Tangled Angel Revival. If you're interested in seeing this show, Kevn'll be on Rock 103.7 starting at 4:30 today and he'll be giving away CD's and tix.
A few other good suggestions around town: there's
Lona at
Tasty World, the combo of
Nightingale News and
Sleepy Horses at the
Caledonia, and our friends in
Thunderchief playing their last show in their current lineup at
Nuci's Space.
SAT: Talk about quiet nights... you can go see
Push! perform at the
Caledonia, and reward them for choosing a smart night to plan a show, or you can check out the bluegrass of the
Packway Handle Band at the
Georgia Theatre. More on the latter
here. Other than that, I'm open to suggestions, y'all.
