This Weekend In Athens
FRI: Athens 441 Week carries on at the
Morton with tonight's show featuring
Birds & Wire, our pal
Kimberly Morgan, and more. They do a pretty good job of finding more radio-friendly local acts with you know... "cred". Anyway, I usually like their choices. More
here.
Anyone know who
Peter Alvanos is? Yeah, busy dude. Anyway, he's at the
Caledonia tonight. The Flagpole lists it as a solo show, while the Caledonia says it's a
Fabulous Bird show, so who knows? There's also a discrepancy over where
Folklore will be - with the F'pole calling it for
Little Kings and the Caledonia saying they'll be there. Who knows where they'll turn up.
Supposedly, though, you can see
Timber at
Little Kings and
Lake City at
Farm 255. Later on, if you wanna dance it off, there's
Bitch Switch at
Little Kings,
DJ Mahogany at the
Go Bar or the
Krush Girls at the
40 Watt.
SAT: The last of the
Athens 441 Week shows happens this time with
Dancer Vs. Politician, hard-tourin'
Jesse Flavin, and others. Again, more
here. And these shows'll all be on the radio someday.
Seriously,
Fabulous Bird is back at it again! Tonight, they're part of the
Kindercore Relaunch Party at the
Caledonia. It was mentioned 'round here a while back that they re-launched. And that they're now an all-digital label. The re-launch show also features
King of Prussia,
"The Masters" (a group sing-along in tribute to the now-defunct Masters Of The Hemisphere - Ian, is this right?), and others. Good to see 'em back. More
here and
here.
If none of that's your bag, the math hard-rockers in
Cinemechanica bring the pain at the
40 Watt.
SUN: Nana Grizol is another repeat-performer this week, this night at
the Secret Squirrel.
