This Weekend In Athens
Happy Birthday this weekend to Sarah, Hillary, and Tasty World (which opened right about the time I first came to Athens). Go Virgos...
FRI: Dark Meat makes Athens a tour stop on their recent string of tour dates. Hope this means the album's already recorded, but we'll see. I hope there's some new stuff at the show. They're playing with
Long-Legged Woman at the
40 Watt, btw.
Meanwhile, next door at the
Caledonia,
Cinemechanica and
Dead Confederate rock the stage. I thought that seemed like an odd pairing, but they're two competent bands who have a decent crowd around, so why not?
There's also
Freeball at
Tasty World as part of their 10th Anniversary celebration. Later that night, the
Krush Girls is/are DJing upstairs. Or you can catch
Kenosha Kid at
Mercury Lounge. Or
DJ Mahogany at
Go Bar.
But before all or most of that,
Casper & The Cookies will be performing at
Flicker somewhere around 8:30 and WAY before all that,
King Of Prussia will be playing
UGA's Herty Field (right there in the middle of north campus at noon. They're pretty good, so it's a good lunch break idea for you University employees.
SAT (Go Dawgs!): Local MCs
Bear and
Elite Tha Showstoppa perform (amongst others) at the
Caledonia as part of a big hip-hop night. I know I'm gonna catch hell for sayin' this, but not a lot else going on that night.
