This Weekend In Athens
Well, it's an outta-town game, but the in-town bands still aren't coming out in droves per se...
FRI: Ham 1 performs at the
40 Watt in celebration of its new album
The Captain's Table. Also, this is just ahead of their tour with Vic Chesnutt and Liz Durrett.
There's also
Birds & Wire at the
Melting Point or earlier on there's
Push! at
Flicker.
SAT: Ohio's
Magnolia Electric Co. comes to rock the
40 Watt, who've hosted several good outta-towners lately. Good to see.
There's also a rare occurrence at the
Georgia Theatre where you can see
Contraband open a show, the another band who I'm not familiar with plays a show, then
Ninjaband closes the show. That's right, two video-game-winning math rock performances for the price of one. Totally awesome.
Later, you can catch
Bitch Switch at
Little Kings if you're in the mood to shake ass. Or, before all that,
Timber will be at
Schoolkids Records at around 4 PM.
SUN: There's actually two good Sunday shows. Who'd've thunk it? Anyway, for the folks with loud, loud tastes,
the Dumps will be at
Transmetropolitan.
Meanwhile, over at the secret squirrel,
DJ Mahogany will be spinning after a performance by
The Lickity Splits.
