R.E.M.'s New Album & The Mangum Lobster

For those of you who are too old to be reading Pitchfork (all of you - me included), R.E.M's new album is called Accelerate and it'll be out April 1st. If not for the little ticker at the bottom of our page, I wouldn't have known this yet. There's a website putting up a new art-school home movie each day till it comes out. If you like quickly-cut grainy video without a storyline, you're in for a treat.

They'll also be at SXSW too. Maybe Computer Support'll drop by and tell us all about it. Does he even read this site anymore?

Anyway, everyone in the media's taken this an opportunity to take one more swipe at Around The Sun (including Stipe). As one of the few who liked that album apparently (it's a well-done Sunday morning album, in my opinion), I really can't understand the immense dislike. But oh well. In any case, the new one's gonna be faster... obviously.

Oh, and while I was walking the halls of hip there, I dug up this month-old story on the E6 movie that should appeal to all the Mangum-spotters out there. What will he do next?!?
