This Weekend in Athens

A quick rundown of
tonight's music...
There's
Iron Hero, Twin Tigers, and a band out of Nashville called Oblio over at the
Caledonia, Hope for a Golden Summer at
Farm 255, Telenovela at
Flicker, though I don't know much about them (but heard it's good), jazz over at Mercury Lounge, and hip hop at
Tasty World. Or, get your dj fix on over at the
40 Watt with the Krush Girls and Twin Powers.
And for
Saturday...
Peter Alvanos and Dancer vs. Politician at the
283 Bar, Deerhunter's Bradford Cox does his thing with Atlas Sound over at the
40 Watt, Jackpot City and Lona at the
Caledonia, Madeline and others at
Flicker, and Elliot McPherson (of Alabama band The Dexateens) will be performing a solo set, along with his artwork displayed, at the new Rye Bar (the old DT's). Don Chambers will also be performing solo at this show.
Elliot's shadowboxes are really cool pieces of art, by the way. Definitely worth a peek. I think it's free admission from 8 to 9 and cheap PBR's. Also, DJ Other Voices, Other Rooms will be doing a dj set over at
Little Kings.
Update: I forgot about this show on
Sunday. William Tonks and Clay Leverett (cd release for both Tonks and Lona) at Kingpins around 8 p.m. Sounds like good Sunday fun if you ask me!
The weather should be warming up for the next few days, but expect some rain on Sunday. So get out there while you can before it gets too cold again. Hope everyone has a great weekend!
