This Weekend In Athens
FRI: Lotsa big shows around tonight. I'm gonna start with the free one:
The Black Lips headline the
40 Watt with
The Selmanaires (from the ATL) and Athens' own
Pride Parade, who are awesome. It's free, it'll be packed so get there early.
I know some people here were excited about seeing
Girl Talk at the
Georgia Theatre as well.
Pegasuses-XL opens for them and there's a pre-show party at the
Rye Bar with some sort of surprise guest DJ.
Also,
the Gourds are at the
Melting Point and Atlanta's
Young Joc is at UGA's
Legion Field, but I'm pretty sure that show's sold out.
SAT: Elf Power has the official release show for their newest album,
In A Cave, at the
40 Watt. All part of an extended tour they're on. Supporting them on this bill are
Ham 1,
Madeline, and several other acts.
There's also a cool outdoor show at
Farm 255 with
Little Country Giants and new residents of Washington Street Venice Is Sinking. (
UPDATE: Lucas says VIS isn't playing this show... F'pole had listed it as such. Little Country Giants
are playing though.)
Meanwhile, there's a hip-hop line up at the
Caledonia with
Elite Tha Showstoppa,
Son 1 and other folks.
And on that same block at nearly the same time as all that you can see
Producto and
Don Chambers, amongst others, at
Flicker.
SUN: Madeline performs for a second time this weekend at the
Melting Point with
William Tonks and Austin act
The Greencards.
