My Mixtape Can Beat Up Your Mixtape

Hola amigos. First, a clarification. A couple of folks have asked if I am "taking over" The Day Jobs. Nope. I'm just an "official" contributor. Mail Clerk will keep doing Tonight in Athens until he leaves town, and Desktop Publisher and I will be providing other content. You know, like a head on a stick, for instance.

The Next Big Thing on the music blogs this past month is Muxtape. Basically, you can make a mix tape out of any mp3s you want and put them on the web. The service agreement says you must have permission to post the songs, but it's very "wink-wink". You can't search it, but you can link to your own. Mine's here. Check it out before the RIAA launches a tactical nuclear strike. Files have to be in mp3 format, so you may have to convert them if they're in Itunes. If you're a Mac geek, there's a cool app called Fluid that you can set up to be a virtual jukebox. It gives you a thumbnail preview of the next three or four Muxtape links. I looked for something similar for Firefox, but everything I found was little clunky.

It was only after I'd finished that I realized my mix tape had DBT's Nine Bullets and Boomtown Rats' I Don't Like Mondays. So if I go on a killing spree this weekend, don't say you weren't warned!
