This (Holiday) Weekend In Athens

Wow, it's Memorial Day Weekend, but kinda seems like the pre-AthFest lull mighta' hit... Also, dumbass me forgot to mention that Bubbapalooza is this weekend at the Star Bar in ATL. Last night was Redneck GReece Deluxe, but there's lotsa other stuff happening too. Thanks to Shannon for the heads up on that one.

FRI: The Dexter Romweber Duo roll into town tonight to perform at the 40 Watt. Dexter, of course, best known for his membership in another duo: The Flat Duo Jets, onetime Athenians and stars of Athens, GA: Inside/Out. Dexter's calmed a bit since then, but the music still rocks. Ham 1 is also on the bill.

Also, there's Sleepy Horses at Flicker and DJ Mahogany at the Go Bar.

SAT: Dave Marr, former singer for the legendary Star Room Boys, performs as part of benefit show at Tasty World. Expect the set to be a mix of SRB material and a good cover or two thrown in for good measure. Not sure if any of the "trio" members are playing with him or if it's a solo show, but either way it'll be good (and infrequent, so go see it!). Don Chambers is there as well.

SUN: STRIKEFORCE! continues its Sunday residency in the only venue they play: Kingpins. After questioning who these mystery men were last week, there's been an informative Flagpole ABC Box (by David Eduardo - one of my favorite music journalists around town) and we received a response from William Tonks stating:
So far the cast has included Rob Veal, Mike Gibson, Jon Mills, Brian Crane, Randy Durham, Crumpy Edwards, Pete Sackett, Todd McBride and William Tonks. That's representing bands Dashboard Saviors, Barbara Cue, Dave Barbe's Quick Hooks, W.E/R.I., White Buffalo, Redneck GReece Delux, Gravity Creeps, The La-Di-Das and many others! And it is indeed every Sunday, but the cast varies from week to week, thus so does the setlist, but it's been fun every time.
So, check 'em out. They start around 8 and it's free.

MON (Happy Memorial Day!): I'm assuming Rock N' Roll Trivia's still going on, even though it's Memorial Day. Y'all?
