This Weekend in Athens

FRI: Lots of going-ons around town this weekend. There is an early show outside on the Caledonia porch this evening. Love those outdoor shows in the spring! The music starts around 9 p.m. with Rob Veal (joined by William Tonks and Jon Mills) followed by The Wydelles.

Dancer vs. Politician, among others, are over at the 40 Watt, Grogus performs outside on Farm 255's patio, Titans of Filth and others at Flicker, and hey, maybe someone out there cares, the Oak Ridge Boys are at over the Harbor Club Polo Arena tonight (wherever that is).

The Athens Americana show goes into its second and final night this evening. According to their site, the acts include Trappers Cabin, Patrick Carey, William Tonks (he'll be in two places tonight it seems), Sticks and Steel, Kaitlin Jones, Justin Evans' Chinatown Diary and Don Chambers and friends.

SAT: At 6:30 p.m. there's a Cornhole Tournament over at Little Kings to celebrate their 4 year anniversary. White Tiger BBQ, which I just recently tried, is supplying the food, and DJ Voices Other Rooms, Mandy Jane and the Jaws of Life, and Timber will be supplying the music (word is 9 pm on the music). DJ Mahagony will be doing his thing there later at midnight. Madeline will also be doing an early show around 6 at Trax.

Buddy SystemAthica is hosting an event called "Adventures in Mysticism," named after the current exhibit, which will feature the music of John Fernandez, (acoustic) Telenovela, and Divided Like A Saint's. Music Hates You is bringing the loud over to the Caledonia, and The Buddy System and Spring Tigers will be around the corner at Flicker.

Also, don't forget about the Farmer's Market at Bishop Park from 8 to 11 a.m. I have yet to make it out, but I definitely support the cause. Anyone
have any input on the first two farmers' markets they've held this year?
