This Weekend in Athens

Ghost DogsFriday:

Happy Halloween, everyone! Please post pictures of yourself in your costume next week. We always get a kick out of TDJers being freaks.

There's the Boo-Butante Halloween Party at the Tasty World with Music Hates You covering Body Count, Lazer/Wülf doing a tribute to themselves, and the Holy Liars covering Danzig. Deerhoof is at the 40 Watt and Pastor of Muppets (covering Metallica, obviously) are at Farm 255 with the Zombie Puppet Show. Starting off the night at 8 is the free Black Light Dance Party at 283 Bar with DJ Mahogany.

Caledonia Halloween 2007The Caledonia is host to the 4th Annual Shut-Ups Halloween Show. "A Special Concert to Raise Awareness of Death" will feature performances by Joey Ramone, Amy Winehouse, Hall & Oates, The Bee Gees, Milli Vanilli, Eminem, John Denver, Kermit the Frog, Chrissie Hynde, and Robert Palmer...all backed by the Shut-Ups, amazingly. Also on the bill is special guests Michael McDonald and The Sweatpants.

Packway Handle Bar
is at the Georgia Theatre with Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars, and Heavy Petty (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers) is at the Melting Point for their Halloween party. If all you want to do is dance, there's a costume contest at Blur for the All Hallow's Eve Dance Party and a Halloween Disco (featuring DJs Twin Powers) at the Go Bar. Bitch Switch is at Little Kings along with a drag show. Heck, there's djs just about everywhere tonight, as well as live music.

Saturday:

Recover from post-Halloween hangover.

The Space Rock Con Festival is at the Tasty World all day. This festival showcases experimental acts. Brave New Citizen is at the Caledonia and DJ Mahogany is at Farm 255. There's also the weekly Farmers' Market at Bishop Park.

Sunday:

Gay Africa is at Farm 255.

There's also a fall festival at the Georgia Nature Center.
(Watkinsville) Featuring gourmet Jamaican food, art, face painting, fall foliage walk, solar power demos, sweet potato harvest, carnivorous plant presentations, Next Generation Home tours and more. Music from Dubconscious, Kate Morrissey and Caroline Aiken. See Live Music. FREE! admission for teachers and their families.
Everyone be careful out there and watch out for Ghosts! Especially dog ghosts.
