New Local Music: Magic Missile

Magic Missile's CD release show for I'll Careful
is Saturday night at the Caledonia Lounge.
You can now stream and/or download for FREE the new record from Magic Missile over at their bandcamp page. This record has been in the works for four years. Band member Meghann Jordan departed the band in the Fall of 2009 (she moved to California and we miss her), so thankfully, this record captures the songs that have been the mainstay of the band's live shows for the past few years.

While we love their old description of their songs, which "ride the fine line between Science Fact and Science Fiction with subjects ranging from the exultation of DNA to the loneliness of being a cyborg," the band's music has now moved away from songs about elements of the periodic table (no kidding!) to more "danceable grooves" with a shift in lineup, including more female backing vocals. Ultimately, they still maintain the cute and catchy pop vibe they've always had.

You can catch them tomorrow night at the Caledonia, along with The Shut-Ups and Spirit Hair (click for a free download of their new record), who are also releasing their albums at this triple CD release show.
