The Athens Americana Festival, a celebration of local folk, country, and bluegrass music featuring Athens’ finest acts of the inclusive Americana genre, will take place Wednesday, April 27th through Saturday, April 30th, at Little Kings, with a closing party at Hendershot’s Coffee on Sunday, May 1st.
The festival will kick-off on Wednesday evening, April 27th, with a free screening of Do It For Johnny, a documentary film produced by local guitar luthier, musician, and filmmaker Scott Baxendale. This will mark the award-winning film’s debut presentation in Athens.
Among the new components to this year’s festival will be acoustic happy hour with live music and an artisan/crafts fair on Saturday evening, April 30th, at Little Kings.
Tickets for Friday and Saturday night shows (April 29th and 30th) will be available at the door for $8 each night. Thursday night’s show, on April 28th, and the closing party on Sunday, May 1st, will each cost $5. Wristbands for entry into all Athens Americana events will cost $15 and be available in the coming weeks at Little Kings, Hendershot’s, Jittery Joe’s Roaster, Schoolkids Records, and online via Athensmusic.net.
