Classic City Rollergirls Host “Bout Against Breast Cancer” for CFNEGA

What: Classic City Rollergirls vs. Savannah Derby Devils "Bout Against Breast Cancer"
When: May 1, 2011, Doors at 1 p.m., Battle at 2 p.m.
Where: Athens Arena (280 Commerce Blvd. Bogart, GA 30622)
Cost:  Advance - $10, Door - $12 for adults, $5 for kids aged 6-10, kids 5 and under get in free. 

The Classic City Rollergirls (CCRG), Athens’ all-female flat track roller derby league, have teamed up with the Cancer Foundation of Northeast Georgia (CFNEGA) and local artists to raise awareness and funds to help citizens in our area deal with the financial complications of breast cancer for our May 1st “Bout Against Breast Cancer.” Thirteen plaster breast castings have been made from CCRG skaters and other community models, each one uniquely customized by a different local artists. The final artwork will be auctioned at halftime of the bout, emceed by Sweet Willy T-Bag (CCRG’s coveted home announced and auctioneer) with assistance from “Gnarly Carly.” All auction proceeds will directly benefit CFNEGA and its clients.

Local Athens artists who have participated in this event include: Mike Mills, Joshua Espenshade, Jamie Calkin, “Radar,” Chris Parry, Doug Toole, Pete Loose, John Collins, Lanora Pierce, Brian Kindamo, Christopher Gaudreau, and Kate Cook. Community models include Calley Payne (Girls Rock Camp ATH & CCRG), Heidi Davison (former Mayor), Beth Larsen (Magic 102.1 FM), and Russ Nix (Omni Club, Hard Core Gym,
MMA).
